Lufthansa will launch non-stop flights from Munich to Denver, Colorado, on May 11 next year. The route will be served five-times weekly with a four-class Airbus A330-300.

Flight LH 480 will take off from Munich on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 11:45, landing in the Mile High City at 14.30. In the opposite direction, flight LH 481 will depart Denver at 16.05 with arrival in the Bavarian capital at 10:05 the next morning. Flight time is 10.5 hours. This new service will operate alongside Lufthansa's existing daily flights to Denver from its hub in Frankfurt. “With all classes now offering the newest onboard product, our passengers travelling to Munich will experience the highest level of quality, as well as the premium customer service, that Lufthansa is known for.

Denver, Colorado “Denver has been an important U.S. gateway for Lufthansa since 2001. Nearly three million travellers have flown Lufthansa to and from Denver, and the return of direct flights to Munich displays just how important the Denver market is to our airline,” said Juergen Siebenrock, Vice President The Americas at Lufthansa German Airlines. - The route was initially announced in 2007 by Lufhansa, but was subsequently cancelled in 2008 due to low demand. Lower fuel prices, greater consumer demand and more cost efficient aircraft have all led to the route being reestablished. "With Denver, we are offering our customers an extremely attractive travel destination. Denver is a paradise for sports fans and nature lovers. The city was also awarded the title of best metropolis for ’Business and Careers’", said Thomas Klühr, the Member of the Executive Board of Lufthansa Passage responsible for finances and the Munich hub. Denver is not only popular with winter sports enthusiasts using the city as access to the Rocky mountains (popular skiing resorts Vail, Breckenridge and Aspen are only a short drive away from the city) - a number of mining companies and major telecommunications groups are also based in Denver, where other prominent industries include the energy supply and logistics industries. ”It's definitely going to stimulate both corporate and tourist traffic,” said Laura Jackson, Denver International's vice president of air service development. Once in Denver, Lufthansa passengers can capitalise on the fact that the airport is the hub of Lufthansa’s Star Alliance partner, United Airlines, which offers connections to approximately 85 destinations in North America.
