KLM Royal Dutch Airlines will next summer expand its medium-haul network with five new destinations: Southampton, Inverness, Dresden, Genoa and Valencia. The routes will be launched between late-April and late-May 2016.

From May 16, the Dutch airline will fly 12-times weekly between Southampton and Amsterdam - twice-daily on weekdays and once-daily at the weekend. A Fokker 70 will be deployed on the route. Flights will depart Amsterdam Schiphol at 08.35 and 16.40, landing in Southampton at 08.45 and 16.50. In the opposite direction, flights will depart Southampton at 09.20 and 17.25, arriving in Amsterdam at 11.30 and 19.35. On Saturday and Sunday, only the afternoon service will operate. Services to Inverness will commence on May 17 with a once-daily service departing from Amsterdam at 09.45, landing in Scotland at 10.25. The return will depart Inverness at 11.00, arriving at Schiphol at 13.40. A Fokker 70 will also be deployed on the route. Twice-daily Valencia services will begin on April 23 with a Boeing 737-700 aircraft. Genoa will commence once-daily from April 22 with an Embraer 190, while Dresden will operate once-daily from May 16 with a Fokker 70 aircraft. “Customers from all over Europe fly KLM to our hub in Amsterdam to connect with flights to our destinations around the world. We aim to develop our European network so that we can offer more direct flights to and from Amsterdam and more and better connections via Schiphol. So I am proud to announce that we will add five more European destinations to our network, giving European travellers more options to explore the world. The new destinations are relevant to our hub and to our position in the local markets,” said Pieter Elbers, KLM President & CEO. With the new routes, KLM will operate a total number of 76 European destinations from its hub in Amsterdam. From February 1, 2016, KLM will cease operations to Köln in Germany.
