Japan Airlines in collaboration with Beyond Meat, recently announced the decision to serve a plant-based Beyond Burger on select routes between March 1 and May 31, 2020.

As part of Japan Airlines (JAL) SDGs commitment, the carrier has continued to implement measures to raise awareness in developing a sustainable society. According to a third-party led Life Cycle Assessment, a Beyond Burger uses significantly less water, land, energy, and generates fewer greenhouse gas emissions than a standard 80/20 beef burger. Through this implementation, JAL aims to contribute to realizing a sustainable society by introducing the plant-based meat to JAL`s First Class customers traveling from Los Angeles and San Francisco to Tokyo.

  • Beyond Meat has a mission of building meat directly from plants, an innovation that enables consumers to experience the taste, texture and other sensory attributes of popular animal-based meat products while enjoying the nutritional and environmental benefits of eating its plant-based meat products. The Beyond Burger offers 20g of protein with 32% less saturated fat compared to an 80/20 beef burger, and is made using simple plant-based ingredients, like peas, mung beans and brown rice, without GMOs, soy or gluten.
