Just over a year before the summer Olympics in 2016, Hilton has opened its first hotel in Rio de Janeiro, which has been named the Hilton Barra Rio de Janeiro. The hotel is located in the Barra da Tijuca district, a few minutes walk from the upcoming Olympic Park. The hotel has 298 rooms, which includes an executive floor with lounge. The hotel also has ten meeting rooms and two event rooms for up to 950 guests. For those wishing to eat, there is a restaurant for 140 guests, and the hotel's roof houses a champagne bar, ‘Champagne House’. Next to the rooftop bar there is an outdoor pool and the hotel also offers a fitness centre. The hotel is about 15 minutes to the beaches of Barra and Rio's airport, Galeão, is 30 minutes by taxi. To celebrate the opening, Hilton are offering an opening price of 159 US dollars per night, and 1000 Hilton HHonors points.
