Starwood Hotels & Resorts has announced it will open the first Luxury Collection Hotel in Tokyo - The Prince Gallery Tokyo Kioicho, a Luxury Collection Hotel.
The brand’s second hotel in Japan, following the opening of Suiran in Kyoto in April 2015, will be located in the heart of Tokyo’s Kioicho neighbourhood with an opening date set for July 2016. The hotel is in close proximity to a number of Tokyo’s attractions, including Shimizudani Park and Benkei Canal, and offers convenient access to the metro via the nearby Akasaka Mitsuke station. “The Prince Gallery Tokyo Kioicho is the perfect showcase of the rapid growth of The Luxury Collection brand, which has recently surpassed 100 hotels in more than 30 countries. From a historic UNESCO site in Kyoto to a prestigious location in the heart of Tokyo, The Luxury Collection offers guests unique access to indigenous and authentic destination experiences,” said Hoyt H. Harper II, Global Brand Leader, The Luxury Collection. The 250-room Prince Gallery Tokyo Kioicho is part of Tokyo Garden Terrace, a mixed-use development which will encompass retail, offices and residences, Starwood said in a statement. The hotel will be located on the 30th to 36th floors of a tower that also features offices and commercial facilities. A lobby on the top floor will boast panoramic city views. The hotel will offer 11 “opulent” suites, a bar on the 35th floor with two-story floor-to-ceiling glass windows, as well as more than 272 square metres of function and meeting space. Other facilities will include a large indoor pool, fitness centre, spa, business centre and club lounge. Four restaurants and bars will be available to guests staying at the hotel, including an all-day dining venue and specialty restaurants. Guests will also have access to additional dining options located within Tokyo Garden Terrace, including a bistro-style French restaurant. “Responding to the strong growing demand for distinctive and refined hospitality experiences, The Prince Gallery Tokyo Kioicho will enliven the luxury hospitality landscape of Tokyo. We are pleased to offer The Luxury Collection brand’s unparalleled services in one of the city’s most dynamic neighbourhoods,” said Lothar Pehl, Senior Vice President, Operations and Global Initiatives, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Asia Pacific. In 2015, Starwood signed four new hotels and opened three new properties in Japan - Sheraton Kiroro Hokkaido Resort; The Kiroro, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, Hokkaido; and The Westin Rusutsu Resort. When opened, The Prince Gallery Tokyo Kioichio will mark Starwood’s fourth hotel in Tokyo.
