Emirates deploys A380 to Birmingham Airport

Emirates has announced it will deploy an Airbus A380 to Birmingham Airport from March 27 next year.

The world’s largest passenger aircraft, complete with an on-board lounge in business class, will replace the current Boeing 777 on Emirates’ daily flight between Birmingham and Dubai, EK39/40. The upgrade will increase capacity on the route by 15 percent.

Birmingham Airport A two-class A380 will depart Dubai at 07.35, arriving in Birmingham at 12.20. In the opposite direction, flights will depart Birmingham at 14.20 and arrive in Dubai at 00.35. Emirates’ two-class configured A380 features 58 flat-bed seats in Business Class, and 557 seats in Economy Class. “The A380 is hugely popular among our passengers as it provides a unique level of service that has become synonymous with the Emirates brand. We are very excited to be the first airline to introduce the iconic A380 into the region and look forward to more of our customers enjoying the experience of flying on the world’s largest passenger aircraft,” said Laurie Berryman, Emirates vice president, UK. Emirates will also add the A380 to two more destinations in 2016, Prague (PRG) and Taipei (TPE) - “reinforcing its commitment to provide an enhanced onboard experience for its passengers,” the UAE airline said in statement. Emirates’ A380 services to Prague and Taiwan will commence from May 1, 2016, and will represent a 44 per cent increase in capacity on both routes.

Additionally, Barcelona will be served with a second daily Emirates A380 service from June 1, 2016. With 71 A380s serving 36 destinations, Emirates operates the world’s largest fleet of the double-decker aircraft.
