Crowne Plaza Reading reopens restaurant after make-over
Four star Crowne Plaza Reading has reopened its restaurant following a £300,000 refurbishment.
Along with a new name - Riverside, which pays homage to the hotel’s location along the banks of the River Thames - the revamped restaurant and bar boasts a brand new menu, a new contemporary interior, flexible seating and state-of-the-art kitchen equipment. The refurbishment has been influenced by casual all-day dining - a huge global trend, according to Julie Harper, Head of Food & Beverage at Redefine|BDL Hotels - operators of the new 42-cover bar and 90-cover restaurant.
Crowne Plaza Reading's Riverside - refurbished restaurant and bar The bar and restaurant caters for working lunches and relaxed afternoon teas and dinners, with a ‘Smoke BBQ’ menu inspired by the kitchen’s new piece of cooking equipment – The Big Green Egg. As well as a wide selection of dishes from the grill, the menu created by head chef, Ramneek Chugh, features family favourites and a wide range of wines, craft beers, signature cocktails and Starbucks coffee. David Willmott, general manager at Crowne Plaza Reading, said: “We’re exceptionally proud to launch the new restaurant, and thrilled to introduce a new cooking method which brings a new dimension to the menu. The Big Green Egg draws out the natural flavours from meat and fish which are perfectly complemented by chef’s range of barbecue sauces and rubs. “Ramneek and the rest of the kitchen team have put together a fresh and varied menu that will appeal to all of our guests and visitors. In particular, the carefully crafted house specials of smoked brisket chilli and buttermilk cornbread are fantastic. “We look forward to welcoming guests and visitors from the surrounding area to Riverside to enjoy the extensive range of food and drink on offer.”
