British Airways has announced it will again offer a direct service between London and Iran’s capital Tehran, restarting the service that it suspended in 2012.
The route will launch on July 14 from London Heathrow with a six-times weekly service, increasing to daily from this winter. Four-class Boeing 777s will be deployed on the route. “Iran is a large and growing economy and Tehran is a brilliant business city so we are incredibly excited to be adding another gateway to the Middle East,” said Neil Cottrell, BA’s network planning chief. Sanctions, travel warnings and poor relations has led to only Iran Air flying the route between the two capital cities, with restrictions often disrupting services. Return fares on the new London-Tehran service start from £384 in economy, £728 in premium economy, £2,163 for Business and £3763 for First class.
