Air Berlin has recently equipped its first two aircraft with wireless inflight Internet, two Airbus A320 aircraft, registrations D-ABNJ and OE LEL. The aim is that the entire fleet will have the WiFi service on board within three years. The system is from Panasonic Avionics Corporation and can be used on smartphones, tablets and laptops. Passengers on short and medium-haul flights will also have access to an onboard entertainment system, with TV series, movies and music which you watch or listen to on your own device via the new onboard WiFi service. The service features 180 hours of entertainment. Prices are: €4.90 for 30 minutes and 20 MB of data, €8.90 for one hour and 50 MB of data, €13.90 for a medium-haul flight and 90 MB of data, and €18.90 for a long-haul flight with 120 MB of data. -

With the new Wi-Fi service, our passengers can stay online during the flight and stay in touch with their families, friends and business partners. We will gradually expand the new service to almost the entire fleet. Airberlin is the first German airline to offer inflight internet access not only on long-haul flights, but also on short- and medium-haul flights. We are very pleased to work together with Panasonic to offer our passengers an innovative Wi-Fi product that further adds to comfort on board our aircraft

, says Wolfgang Prock-Schauer, Chief Executive Officer of Air Berlin.
